The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has unveiled the two-year landmark achievements of its Director General, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, while commissioning its newly established Sokoto office aimed at strengthening regulatory presence and quality assurance in the region.
The event, held in Sokoto, drew prominent figures including the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh; the Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Haruna Abbas; and the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto, Iyan Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Bala.
In his address, Dr. Okeke highlighted SON’s strategic initiatives in the past two years, which have enhanced product certification, improved laboratory capacity, and boosted stakeholder collaboration across Nigeria’s industrial sector. He emphasized that the new Sokoto office would deepen SON’s operations in the North-West, improve accessibility for manufacturers, and promote compliance with quality standards.
Senator Enoh commended SON’s renewed drive toward industrial growth, noting that effective standardization remains key to improving Nigeria’s competitiveness and protecting consumers.
The representative of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Bala, lauded the organisation’s efforts, describing the Sokoto office as a welcome development that will support local industries and foster economic growth in the region.
