The Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Ms. Bridget Omolola Oloworaran, on Friday marked her first year in office to an enthusiastic reception from staff and commendation from stakeholders within the pension sector.

Employees of the Commission staged a surprise celebration as the DG arrived at the PenCom headquarters in Abuja, expressing appreciation for what they described as her impactful leadership since assuming office. The atmosphere at the Commission was said to have “erupted into celebration” as staff welcomed her with applause and solidarity gestures.

In a separate congratulatory letter addressed to the DG, the National Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) praised Ms. Oloworaran for what it called her “visionary and goal-oriented leadership.” The union said it was pleased to identify with her achievements in strengthening the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and improving outcomes for retirees across the country.

Signed on behalf of pensioners nationwide, the union thanked the DG for initiatives implemented during her first 12 months, noting that they reflect the broader reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. It also wished her continued success as she continues her tenure at the Commission.

The DG, appointed in November 2024, oversees regulatory and supervisory reforms within the nation’s pension industry.
