The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has begun the disbursement of N1,856,875,526.27 as terminal and death benefits to 728 retirees and relatives of deceased civil servants.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, FCA, disclosed this while addressing beneficiaries at the Pension House.

According to him, the payment covers gratuity, death benefits, and death pension balances. He explained that N1,546,000,171.79 is allocated to 607 retirees, while N289,793,204.10 will be paid to 96 relatives of civil servants who died in active service. An additional N21,082,150.38 will go to 25 retirees who passed away shortly after retirement.

Dr. Shitu described the Jigawa Contributory Pension Scheme as the leading pension system in the country, noting its commitment to prompt settlement of benefits for both retirees and deceased workers. He said this consistency reflects the state government’s firm dedication to the welfare and financial stability of its workforce.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, for his continuous support and the far-reaching reforms introduced since assuming office. The Executive Secretary added that the administration has injected billions of naira into the scheme, greatly improving its sustainability and boosting the confidence of workers approaching retirement.

Beneficiaries who spoke during the event appreciated the timely payment, saying it would enable them to meet financial needs and enjoy a more secure retirement.

The ongoing disbursement, he said, underscores the government’s commitment to honoring the service of its workers and ensuring a dignified transition to life after public service.
