The Dutse Local Government Council has proposed a total budget of ₦11.753 billion for the 2026 fiscal year.
The Chairman of the council, Malam Sibu Abdullahi, disclosed this while defending the local government’s 2026 budget proposal before the Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Budget.
According to him, the council plans to spend ₦3.11 billion on capital projects and personnel costs, while ₦3.27 billion has been earmarked for overhead expenditures.
Abdullahi explained that the council has outlined several priority projects aimed at improving infrastructure and social services across the local government area. Among the projects is the construction of five daily prayer mosques at different locations within the council.
He added that the budget also makes provision for the rehabilitation of existing road networks and the construction of new roads. Major roads to be rehabilitated or constructed include the Kudai–Ruru road and the Jaufi–Indian Quarters road.
Other key projects include the installation of 11 water schemes and the construction of 11 boreholes, aimed at improving access to potable water, particularly in rural communities.
The chairman further noted that high-tension line (HTL) electrification projects form part of the major initiatives captured in the 2026 budget.
In the health sector, Abdullahi said the council plans to construct additional primary healthcare centres in various locations, including Sabalari and Fanisau villages, to enhance healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
He expressed optimism that the proposed budget, if approved, would significantly improve living conditions and accelerate development across Dutse Local Government Area.
