The Voice of Nigeria’s Evelyn Nyam has emerged winner of the Radio Production of the Year Category at the 2024 edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA), held at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday.

The prestigious event attracted media professionals and notable personalities from across the country, celebrating excellence in journalism and broadcasting. Evelyn Nyam was nominated in two categories; Radio Programme of the Year and Radio Production of the Year; a testament to her consistency and impact in the media space.

Out of three strong contenders in the Radio Production of the Year category, Nyam clinched the award ahead of Destiny Onyemihia of Voice of Nigeria (VON) and Sunday Igoche of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

Her programme, “Women and Development,” with the subtitle “Women Empowerment from Margins to Mainstream,” stood out for its compelling storytelling and focus on women’s empowerment, earning her the coveted honour.

Speaking after receiving the award, Evelyn Nyam dedicated the achievement to God Almighty and expressed deep appreciation to Voice of Nigeria for providing her with the platform to thrive. She encouraged journalists and media professionals to remain committed to their work and to keep hope alive, noting that diligence and perseverance always pay off. “I have been nominated seven times without winning, but tonight God came through for me,” Nyam said.

Her victory marks a significant milestone in her career and serves as an inspiration to many in the media profession who continue to strive for excellence despite challenges.
