The Rotary Club of Ojodu has unveiled the newly beautified Excellence Hotel Roundabout in Ojodu Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) as part of its sustained commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.


The project aligns with Rotary International’s Area of Focus on Protecting the Environment, a global initiative introduced in 2021 to address climate change, promote conservation, and encourage sustainable environmental practices. Through the adoption and beautification of the roundabout, the Rotary Club of Ojodu has taken a practical step toward creating a cleaner, greener, and more visually appealing community.


Strategically located at the heart of Ojodu, the Excellence Hotel Roundabout serves as a major landmark within the community. The project was unveiled during the yuletide season, a period traditionally associated with renewal and beautification, to enhance the ambience of the area for residents, commuters, and visitors
The unveiling ceremony was attended by the District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Rotarian (Prince) Henry Akinyele; the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, who was accompanied by members of his cabinet; the President of the Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Martins Nnanna; members of the club’s Board; and several Rotarians who set aside their professional commitments to be part of the occasion.


Speaking at the event, District Governor Rotarian (Prince) Henry Akinyele commended the Rotary Club of Ojodu for its commitment to environmental stewardship. He noted that the project is in line with Rotary International’s environmental focus and described it as a commendable example of how Rotary clubs can contribute meaningfully to conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable urban development.


In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, expressed appreciation for the club’s choice of the Excellence Hotel Roundabout, describing it as a prominent and central location within the community. He thanked the Rotary Club of Ojodu for its positive impact and reaffirmed the council’s readiness to support initiatives that improve the environment and enhance the quality of life of residents.


Earlier in his address, the President of Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Martins Nnanna, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful execution of the project. He specially acknowledged Rotarian Austin Okhai for his invaluable support and commitment throughout the project. The President also thanked the General Manager of LASPARK and the agency for granting approval for the adoption, ownership, and maintenance of the roundabout, noting that the collaboration was critical to the project’s success and sustainability.


Established in 2002 and officially chartered on March 8, 2005, the Rotary Club of Ojodu was founded by 26 members dedicated to fellowship and service. Guided by Rotary’s enduring motto, Service Above Self, the club continues to build strong partnerships and implement impactful projects that uplift the Ojodu community and contribute to broader societal development.
