The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a major breakthrough in its anti-smuggling operations with the seizure of 20 diverted containers valued at ₦769.5 million along the Kano–Jigawa axis.

The interception, announced on December 21, 2025, reflects the Service’s intensified efforts to combat smuggling and protect the nation’s economy from sabotage. Customs officers, acting on credible intelligence, carried out the operation as part of a wider crackdown on illegal diversion of goods across border routes.

Customs authorities described the seizure as a strong warning to smugglers and their collaborators, stressing that the Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward economic crimes. They noted that improved monitoring, intelligence gathering, and coordinated enforcement contributed to the success of the operation.

The NCS reaffirmed its commitment to supporting legitimate trade while safeguarding government revenue, adding that similar enforcement actions will continue across key corridors nationwide
