The Hadejia Emirate Council has pledged its full support to the Jigawa State Hisbah Command to ensure the success of its daily operations across the state.
The assurance was given by the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs and Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje Haruna, while receiving the Commandant General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Command, Dr. Faiz Muhammad Bashir, alongside five zonal commandants and other senior officials at his palace.
The Emir urged Hisbah personnel to conduct their duties with professionalism and restraint, cautioning them against taking the law into their own hands during operations. He emphasized the importance of patience, discipline, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
Alhaji Maje further advised the command to work closely with sister security agencies as well as traditional institutions, including ward heads, village heads, and district heads, to enhance effective service delivery. He also encouraged Hisbah officers to listen carefully to public complaints and address them responsibly.
The Emir reaffirmed the Emirate Council’s commitment to cooperating with the Hisbah Command in the fight against indecency and other social vices, stressing that all actions must align with Islamic teachings. He also called on the command to collaborate with Islamic scholars and traditional rulers to strengthen their operations.
In his response, the Jigawa State Hisbah Commandant General, Dr. Faiz Muhammad Bashir, appealed to traditional rulers to continue providing the necessary support to enable the command to succeed in its mandate.
Dr. Bashir expressed concern over the growing social challenges in the state, lamenting a situation where some parents send their children to Kano, Kaduna, and other neighbouring states for hard labour in order to generate income.
He assured the Emir that the Hisbah Command is fully prepared to combat criminal activities and other forms of social vices across all 27 local government areas of Jigawa State.
The Commandant General concluded by soliciting the continued cooperation and support of all emirate councils in the state to ensure the effective discharge of the Hisbah Command’s responsibilities
