The Jigawa State Hisba Board has called on traditional rulers, particularly the Gumel Emirate, to support its efforts in preventing immoral acts across the region.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Emir Ahmed Muhammed Sani of Gumel, represented by Chiroman Gumel, Alhaji Usman Maje Muhammed, Hisba Board Chairman, Dr. Muhammed Faiz Bashir, emphasized the critical role of emirs and local leaders in assisting Hisba officers to enforce Islamic law effectively.
Dr. Bashir noted that the cooperation of community leaders, district heads, and local chiefs is essential for ensuring the board’s success. He also acknowledged Governor Umar Namadi’s efforts to strengthen the board by providing operational vehicles, modern equipment, and permanent office facilities. Plans are underway to equip all 27 local government areas with Hisba sub-offices to enhance enforcement and outreach.
In response, Chiroman Gumel assured the Hisba team of full support and cooperation from the Gumel Emirate. He stated that the emirate is ready to actively collaborate with Hisba officers to ensure their programs reach every community under its domain.
The initiative reinforces the state government’s commitment to promoting morality, public order, and citizen welfare across Jigawa.
