The Jigawa State Hisbah Command has paid a courtesy visit to the Dutse Emirate Council to seek royal blessings and support following the appointment of a new Commandant-General.

Receiving the delegation, the Emir of Dutse, Dr Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, expressed gratitude to the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for appointing Dr Faiz Muhammad Bashir as the new Commandant-General of the State Hisbah Command.

The Emir said the appointment was based strictly on merit, describing Dr Bashir as a competent and qualified individual capable of effectively leading the Hisbah Command in the state. He noted that the new Commandant-General possesses the experience and integrity needed to positively influence society by moulding the character and orientation of the people towards becoming responsible and useful citizens.

Dr Sunusi charged Hisbah officers and members of the board to always remember that their primary responsibility is the protection of Islam and religious values. He cautioned them against allowing themselves to be used for personal interests, urging them to discharge their duties with sincerity, fairness and fear of Allah.

The Emir further advised the Hisbah officials to strictly adhere to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the provisions of the Hisbah law in the conduct of their responsibilities. He assured the Command of his total support at all times, stressing that the doors of the Emirate Council remain open to listen to their concerns and assist them whenever the need arises, particularly in the state capital, Dutse.

In his response, the Commandant-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Command, Dr Faiz Muhammad Bashir, thanked the Emir for the warm reception and continued support. He said the Dutse Emirate has distinguished itself in the promotion of Islamic teachings, including effective Zakkat collection and distribution to the needy, which has contributed greatly to social welfare.

Dr Bashir commended the efforts of the late Emir of Dutse, Dr Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, for laying a strong foundation in the advancement of Islamic values within the emirate. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to pay homage to the Emir and seek his blessings for a successful tenure.

The Hisbah Commandant-General also lauded the Jigawa State Government for the construction of a permanent Hisbah headquarters in Dutse, as well as the renovation and beautification of the old Hisbah office. He appealed to the Emirate Council for continued cooperation and support in mobilising the people to enable Hisbah officials to effectively discharge their statutory duties across the state.
