The Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector Reform and ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology has announced that the JusticeTechNG Demo Day will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Abuja, with a ₦10 million grand prize up for grabs.
The event is being organised in collaboration with Arravo, a technology solutions company known for delivering digital infrastructure and enterprise transformation services. The Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice is expected to serve as Chairman of the Occasion.
JusticeTechNG is a reform-focused innovation programme designed to promote practical, technology-driven improvements within Nigeria’s justice system. It brings together policymakers, judicial officers, legal practitioners, technologists, regulators, and justice sector institutions to develop solutions grounded in operational realities.
The Demo Day marks the culmination of the JusticeTechNG Hackathon and Accelerator Programme. Selected teams will showcase prototypes aimed at addressing persistent challenges in justice delivery, including inefficient case management systems, prolonged procedural delays, gaps in record-keeping, and limited access to justice.
Innovators will present their solutions before a distinguished panel comprising senior judicial officers, regulators, experienced lawyers, investors, and other key stakeholders. The presentations will be followed by structured evaluation sessions and interactive engagements.
At the end of the competition, prizes will be awarded as follows:
Winner — ₦10,000,000
First Runner-Up — ₦7,000,000
Second Runner-Up — ₦5,000,000
Organisers stated that the prize funds are intended to support further refinement, development, and potential deployment of the solutions within justice institutions nationwide.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Ayo Adegboye explained that the initiative was conceived several years ago before its formal partnership with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector Reform. According to him, the programme seeks to introduce responsible technological disruption into Nigeria’s justice sector to address long-standing inefficiencies.
“We have seen how fintech transformed the financial sector. Now, we are looking at legal technology and how we can simplify and strengthen Nigeria’s justice system through innovation,” he said.
Dr. Adegboye clarified that the integration of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), is not intended to replace legal practitioners but to enhance their capacity to deliver justice more efficiently. He noted that jurisdictions such as the United States and parts of Europe have adopted AI tools for case analysis and alternative dispute resolution, but stressed that Nigeria must develop home-grown solutions suited to its unique constitutional and legal framework.
“Our constitution and legal structure are unique. We cannot simply import foreign technology into our justice system. We must develop solutions that are tailored to our environment,” he said, expressing optimism that the top three innovations would significantly transform the sector and position Nigeria as a model for other African countries.
Legal partner Perchstone & Graeys, represented by Obi Uguchukwu, also underscored the importance of technology as an enabler rather than a replacement for legal professionals. He noted that the firm is contributing its expertise in legal policy reform and technology law, drawing from its experience in developing Nigeria’s secured transactions framework.
“Technology is not coming to take the place of legal practitioners. It is here to assist professionals to perform their duties more efficiently,” Uguchukwu said.
He highlighted the potential of predictive AI tools to help lawyers assess the likely outcome of cases before proceeding to court. According to him, such tools could reduce unnecessary litigation by guiding clients toward alternative dispute resolution mechanisms where appropriate, thereby easing the burden on Nigeria’s courts.
JusticeTechNG operates through strategic partnerships across the justice and innovation ecosystem, including law firms, technology companies, legal technology organisations, and public institutions. Organisers said the collaborative structure ensures that proposed solutions are legally sound, technically viable, and institutionally aligned.
The Demo Day will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation. Media representatives, justice sector stakeholders, members of the legal profession, and interested members of the public have been invited to attend the landmark event.
