
Rotary Club of Ojodu has celebrated its 21st anniversary of service to humanity with the renovation and equipping of the male ward of the Ojodu Abiodun Community Health Centre, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.
The project, unveiled on Friday, 6 March 2026, forms part of the club’s continued commitment to improving healthcare delivery within the Ojodu community and its environs. Over the years, the health centre has remained one of the club’s key areas of intervention.
As part of the renovation, the club provided hospital beds, mattresses, beddings, window curtains and deep freezer, alongside a complete refurbishment and repainting of the male ward.
The event was attended by the representative of the District Governor of Rotary District 9111 and Assistant Governor, Rotarian Adeniyi Adelaja; Rotarians of the club, the President of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Martins Nnanna; the Doyen of the club and Past Assistant Governor, Rotarian Agbor Paschal Onyejegbu; Past Presidents Armstrong Iwuajunwa and Ijeoma Nwosu; Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Iyogun Abiodun Titilayo; Chairman of the Ward Health Development Committee, Mr. Olanipekun Okunowo; as well as executives of the Community Development Association, including Bashorun Saheed and Alhaji Azeez, among other community leaders.
Speaking at the unveiling, Rotarian Adeniyi Adelaja commended the club for its continued support for the health centre, noting that the male ward had previously been in a dilapidated condition with worn-out facilities. He praised the Rotary Club of Ojodu for restoring the ward and urged the management of the health centre to ensure proper use and maintenance of the donated items for the benefit of the community.
Responding, the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Iyogun Abiodun Titilayo, expressed appreciation to the President, board and members of the club for their continued intervention in the development of the health centre. She noted that the club has consistently returned over the years to identify the needs of the facility and provide support where necessary.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Community Development Association, Bashorun Saheed, commended the Rotary Club of Ojodu for the gesture and assured that the community would safeguard and make good use of the facilities provided.
The anniversary celebration continued on Sunday, 8 March 2026, with a lecture delivered by Mr. Ayotunde Owodunni, MBET, a Nigerian-born Canadian politician and City Councillor in Kitchener, Ontario. Speaking on the theme, “The Role of Citizens in Building Peace: Why Community Leadership Matters More Than Ever,” he urged citizens to be intentional about contributing positively to their communities and raising the next generation of responsible leaders.
The event concluded with a cultural display of Nigerian traditional attire and the presentation of awards to Rotarians and supporters who have contributed to the growth of the club over the years.
The Rotary Club of Ojodu, granted provisional status in 2002 and officially chartered on 8 March 2005, began with 26 founding members committed to promoting fellowship and community service. Guided by the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, the club continues to support initiatives that uplift lives in Ojodu and beyond
