It was a quiet evening at Efab Estate on Monday, November 20, 2017, when the life of Mrs. Eucharia Ishaku was tragically cut short. She was found strangled in her home.
Her husband, Mr. Cliff Ishaku, was reportedly away in Yola, Adamawa State, at the time of the attack. Friends and neighbours described Eucharia as a kind, gentle and loving woman.
“She was just starting life with her husband. They were yet to have children,” a close family source said. “We never imagined we would lose her this way.”
However, a neighbour who pleaded anonymity alleged that the deceased had been in an abusive marriage. According to the neighbour, residents had witnessed the husband allegedly assault her severely on several occasions and, at one point, throw her out of the house.
The neighbour further alleged that Eucharia had been rushed to the hospital twice because of the severity of the abuse. On one occasion, he allegedly smashed a bottle on her head, causing a serious head injury.
In the weeks that followed her death, the family held on to hope that justice would be served. Police launched an investigation and appealed to members of the public for information, but no arrests were made at the time.
Her family remains devastated and heartbroken by her death.
Authorities said the case remained open and continued to urge anyone with useful information to come forward
