Grief and unanswered questions continue to surround the tragic death of Mr. Odusanwo Femi Babajide, a Lagos businessman whose life was allegedly cut short in a shocking shooting incident reportedly involving a business associate.
According to information gathered by our correspondent, the deceased, said to have been hypertensive, died on August 12, 2023, at the age of 48 while on a business trip with his associate.
His children, Odusanwo Abiodun Azeez and Odusanwo Gbenga, both residents of No. 13, Balogun Ilawe Street, Ketu, Lagos State, were reportedly not fully informed about the circumstances surrounding their father’s death at the initial stage, as investigations were still ongoing.
Further inquiries by our correspondent on September 15, 2024, confirmed the painful development, which the family says has left them emotionally devastated. Relatives continue to recount the trauma caused by the sudden and violent loss of their father and loved one.
Family sources alleged that late Mr. Babajide sustained fatal gunshot injuries during a confrontation involving his business associate. The incident reportedly threw neighbours, friends, and relatives into mourning, with many describing the deceased as a peaceful and hardworking man whose untimely death created a huge vacuum in the family.
“It was a heartbreaking moment for everyone,” a family member said. “He had been managing hypertension, and the gunshot injuries reportedly worsened his condition before he eventually passed away in the hospital.”
The matter was said to have been reported at the nearest police station by members of the bereaved family, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police authorities reportedly assigned a senior detective officer, DSP Onowunhi Arotiba, to investigate what residents described as a “mysterious and senseless killing.”
The case has continued to generate concern among residents and members of the family, particularly following alleged threatening phone calls received by the deceased’s children. The family described the threats as disturbing and said they now fear for their safety.
The family is therefore calling on relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased.
