As a Way to celebrate this year’s international Women Day 2024, Wikimedia User Group Nigeria has collaborated with the National Association for Women Journalists Lagos ( NAWOJ) on the need for women to position themselves for greater opportunities.
The event which was recently held in Lagos at LCCI Building, Alausa Ikeja had in present female journalists from various media organizations in Nigeria .
Among the important female personalities that also participated at the event were Mrs. Adepelu Adekunle,, Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy and Sustainability for NNPC Limited, Dr.Adeola Ekine

The event also gave room for these women to share their personal challenges in what they are doing or developing as members of National Association of women journalists.
Speaking at the event, which was tagged “Inspire Inclusion, Mrs.Toro Oladapo Nawoj former national president noted that women have always been known to be excluded either because of historical narrative or because of their knowledge, and this is why the association is partnering with wikimedia in order for people to read more about women who are doing amazing things .
Further more, Olusola Olaniyan, president of Wikimedia Nigeria foundation, stressed that the partnership with NAWOJ was due to the need to train, and create opportunities for women voices to be heard in our societies and most importantly in the media.
However, awards were given to some women who are outstanding in their different areas of their fields .
