Nigeria’s leading engineering construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has remobilized to its Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road project, recommencing asphalt installation works on site. The company had shut down last year due to force majeure, citing insecurity and funding issues. However, with the remobilization, the company has assured Nigerians of its commitment to delivering the federal infrastructure project as early as possible.

The Site Manager, Mike Andrae, confirmed that the company remobilized to the site on June 19, 2024, and has since recommenced work on the project. He reiterated the company’s commitment to delivering quality work, stating that there will be no lowering of standards.

Despite the progress, there are still concerns about security in the area, following an incident on July 2, 2024, where five soldiers lost their lives in a gun battle with suspected bandits. The security operative in the area emphasized the need for the government to ensure the safety of the contractor to complete the road project successfully.

The community leader, Mallam Isa Birnin-Kudu, expressed relief and gratitude that Julius Berger has returned to the project, stating that the community had lost hope during the shutdown.
