The LAWMA boss highlighted innovative packaging solutions that can transform the food industry, stressing that sustainable packaging is crucial for protecting products and the environment. He noted that plastic packaging waste poses significant environmental hazards and that sustainable packaging options like bioplastics, biodegradable films, and plant-based materials are essential for a circular economy.
The speakers emphasized that sustainable packaging is not only environmentally beneficial but also aligns with consumer preferences and market trends. Statistics show that 45% of customers prefer environmentally responsible brands, and 44% prioritize recycling and food waste reduction. Biodegradable packaging offers businesses a chance to enhance their reputation while minimizing environmental impact.
The event featured prominent speakers, including the Director-General of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi, who emphasized the organization’s commitment to prioritizing consumer interests. Other speakers included the Vice President of the World Packaging Organisation, Mr. Kofi Essuman, and the President of the African Packaging Organisation, Ahmed Omeh.
