Consumer Value Champions: Governor Sanwo-Olu, Checkers Custard, Spectranet, Reload, Others Honoured

The 3rd edition of the BrandXchange Consumers Value Awards was held on September 12, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. The event saw Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Checkers Custard, Spectranet, Reload, and others receive awards for their outstanding contributions to consumer empowerment.

The awards, themed “Empowering Consumers,” recognized brands that have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of their customers. In his keynote address, Akonte Ekine, Lead Strategist of Absolute PR Limited and CEO of BrandXchange, emphasized the importance of consumer-centricity and accountability.

“Tonight, we celebrate brands that have listened to the voice of the consumer, adapted to their needs, and delivered exceptional value,” Ekine said. “These brands have shown that they care about their customers and are committed to continuously improving their products and services.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by GM LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, expressed his gratitude for the recognition as 2024 Consumer Rights Advocate Governor of the Year. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding consumer rights and promoting value for all citizens in the state.

“This award is a testament to our commitment to protecting the rights of consumers in Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that businesses operate fairly and transparently, and that consumers have access to quality products and services.”

Other awardees, including Spectranet and Checkers Custard, expressed their gratitude to the organizers and committed to continuing their efforts to meet and exceed consumer expectations.

“We are thrilled to receive this award, which recognizes our commitment to delivering high-quality internet services to our customers,” said Jemimah Adalemo, Brand Communications Manager at Spectranet Nigeria. “We will continue to innovate and improve our services to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Akudo Peggy Abengowe, Marketing Manager at Checkers Custard, also expressed her gratitude to the organizers and highlighted the importance of quality and consistency in their products.

“We are proud to receive this award for the third time, which recognizes our commitment to delivering high-quality custard products to our customers,” Abengowe said. “We will continue to prioritize quality and consistency in our products, and we are grateful to our customers for their loyalty and support.”

The event was attended by industry leaders, regulators, and stakeholders, who celebrated the achievements of the awardees and emphasized the need for continued innovation and accountability in the marketplace.

“The BrandXchange Consumers Value Awards are a testament to the power of consumer-centricity and accountability in driving business success,” said Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director General of the Advertising Regulatory Council Of Nigeria (ARCON). “We congratulate the awardees and encourage all businesses to prioritize the needs of their customers.”

In his final remarks, Ekine emphasized the importance of continued innovation and accountability in the marketplace.

“As we celebrate the achievements of these brands, we must also recognize the importance of continued innovation and accountability in the marketplace,” Ekine said. “We must continue to listen to the voice of the consumer and adapt to their needs, and we must prioritize transparency and fairness in all our business dealings.”

The event concluded with a call to action for all businesses to prioritize consumer-centricity and accountability, and to continue innovating and improving their products and services to meet the evolving needs of their customers.

Finally Mrs Adeola Ekine, the Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ) Lagos Chapter, gave a vote of thanks at the event.

She appreciated the awardees, congratulating them over the awards .She however, emphasised the importance of the award, charging the awardees on need for more hard work, innovation and consumer-focus approach in order to keep standing top among their competitors.

Mrs Ekine also extended her appreciation to the sponsors of the event..thanking them on being part of the journey.
