United Bank for Africa (UBA), through its corporate social responsibility arm, UBA Foundation, has donated N500 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to support efforts to enhance security in the state.
The cheque was presented to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday at the State House, Marina, Lagos. The UBA delegation was led by Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, accompanied by Deputy Managing Director Muyiwa Akinyemi.
Speaking at the event, Elumelu emphasized UBA’s belief in the role of security in fostering economic growth and societal well-being. “At UBA, we understand that security is critical for economic stability. This donation reflects our commitment to building safer communities that enhance quality of life and promote development,” he said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended UBA’s substantial contribution, describing it as a pivotal boost to the state’s security initiatives. “This donation strengthens our efforts to protect our citizens and build a safer Lagos,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the bank’s ongoing support.
UBA Foundation’s intervention aligns with its Special Projects initiative, which addresses critical societal challenges. Over the years, the Foundation has supported various sectors, including education, environment, and economic empowerment.
Elumelu reiterated the bank’s dedication to partnerships that drive security and sustainable development, stating, “We believe a secure Lagos is integral to a secure Nigeria.”
This initiative underscores UBA Foundation’s commitment to uplifting communities and creating an environment conducive to growth and prosperity.
