The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Madein, has called on Federal Pay Officers (FPOs) to uphold transparency, professionalism, and dedication in executing their duties.
Speaking during a working visit to the Federal Pay Office in Benin, Edo State, Dr. Madein emphasized the critical role of FPOs in ensuring compliance with public financial management reforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). She stressed that FPOs must enforce adherence to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, preventing MDAs from maintaining unauthorized accounts with commercial banks.
The AGF also underscored the importance of proper record-keeping, urging officers to maintain accurate and presentable financial records. “No matter how competent you are, your efficiency is measured by the quality of your records,” she noted.
As part of the government’s commitment to strengthening financial administration, Dr. Madein disclosed plans to construct new Federal Pay Offices in some states to address accommodation challenges. She reaffirmed the OAGF’s dedication to staff welfare and ongoing oversight to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
