The Federal Government has announced plans to begin the payment of outstanding wage award arrears to federal workers.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) disclosed that workers are set to receive the remaining five months of the N35,000 monthly wage award in instalments.
The OAGF explained that while five months’ worth of the wage award had previously been paid in instalments, the outstanding balance would now be settled, with one month’s arrears paid at a time.
According to the statement, the first instalment of the arrears will be paid immediately after workers receive their April 2025 salaries.
“The wage award arrears would not be paid with the April 2025 salary; it will come immediately after the salary is paid,” the OAGF clarified.
The Office further reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to the full implementation of all policies and agreements related to staff remuneration and welfare, aimed at boosting productivity and efficiency across the civil service.
The statement was signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF.
