Pensioners of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have announced their participation in a nationwide naked protest on December 8, 2025, demanding the payment of long-overdue entitlements.

The announcement was made by Bola Popoola, National Financial Secretary of FRCN Pensioners, in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos. The protest is part of a broader movement by the Coalition of Federal Pensioners of Nigeria to press the government to settle outstanding pension arrears, including approved palliative allowances.

Popoola explained that retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme have been compelled to join the protest after persistent delays in receiving payments, particularly arrears stemming from the N32,000 minimum pension. He also highlighted the government’s failure to implement the N25,000 palliative allowance approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2023, which has worsened the economic struggles of pensioners.

“Our decision to participate in the naked protest is driven by the government’s outright refusal to pay the N25,000 palliative for six months, even though it was approved since 2023,” Popoola said.

He further revealed that Nigerian pensioners in the diaspora are planning coordinated demonstrations in their host countries to draw international attention to the crisis.

Popoola lamented that individuals who dedicated their productive years to national service are now forced into hardship and indignity, stating, “Pensioners are already in a vulnerable state. Forcing them into a situation where they have to beg to survive is unacceptable and must be urgently addressed.”

The protest, described as a last resort, underscores the growing frustration among pensioners over delayed statutory financial obligations and the urgent need for government action.
