The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) has formally inducted 115 newly qualified Authorised Dealing Clerks, one of its largest cohorts in recent years, highlighting the Exchange’s commitment to enhancing professionalism and regulatory compliance across Nigeria’s capital market.

The inductees, drawn from brokerage firms nationwide, successfully completed NGX’s intensive 15-day Automated Trading System (ATS) Brokers’ Certification Programme, which equips participants with technical knowledge of market structure, trading procedures, and compliance requirements.

At the ceremony, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of NGX Group, hailed the induction as a “testament to hard work and a deepened understanding of the market’s operational framework,” noting that it represents a key step in replenishing the talent pipeline for Nigeria’s securities industry.

Jude Chiemeka, Chief Executive of NGX, stressed the Exchange’s focus on market integrity, telling the new clerks that the ceremonial robes symbolize a binding commitment to the ethical standards of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and the NGX Rulebook. “Your duty is to uphold the integrity and professionalism that underpin market confidence. These standards are non-negotiable,” he said. Chiemeka also reiterated NGX’s zero-tolerance approach to market infractions, emphasizing closer cooperation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to curb financial misconduct.

Industry veterans at the event encouraged the inductees to maintain the profession’s long-standing values. Rasheed Yusuf, a veteran stockbroker, reminded the clerks that “our word is our bond,” while Sehinde Adenagbe, Chairman of ASHON, underscored their critical role in sustaining investor trust.

The induction is part of NGX’s broader initiative to modernize trading infrastructure and deepen participation in the capital market. The Exchange also affirmed its commitment to ongoing capacity-building programs to ensure that the new Dealing Clerks are equipped to contribute to market development, regulatory compliance, and long-term stability.
