The Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam (Dr.) Umar A. Namadi, FCA, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities for youths through sustained support for local government-led development initiatives.
The pledge was made during Governor Namadi’s official visit to Taura Local Government Area, where he launched the Taura Mega Empowerment Programme, an initiative of the Chairman of Taura Local Government, Hon. Shuaibu Hambali Zarga.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Hajiya Zainab Shu’aibu Rabo, the Governor commended Hon. Zarga for his purposeful leadership and dedication to improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of Taura. He described the empowerment programme as a people-oriented initiative that aligns with both the state and federal governments’ development agendas.
Governor Namadi explained that his administration’s Twelve-Point Agenda is designed to enhance the living standards of Jigawa State citizens, with particular emphasis on youths, women, and children. He noted that the establishment of the Jigawa State Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency (JSYEEA) has provided a strategic framework for job creation, skills acquisition, and economic inclusion.
“In line with our Twelve-Point Agenda, we are determined to create opportunities that will empower our youths and women, reduce unemployment, and promote self-reliance across the state,” the Governor stated.
He further announced that the state government will soon empower an additional 1,000 beneficiaries in each of the 27 local government areas through the Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency. According to him, over 500 youths have already secured gainful employment through ongoing state-led empowerment programmes.
Governor Namadi also reiterated his administration’s readiness to collaborate with and support local government councils that uphold transparency, accountability, and people-centered initiatives, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through strong cooperation between state and local governments.
The Taura Mega Empowerment Programme is expected to play a significant role in reducing poverty, empowering youths, and promoting sustainable development in the area, while complementing the broader development efforts of the Jigawa State Government.
