Birniwa Local Government Council has organized a four-day capacity-building workshop for 204 B-Teach staff, aimed at strengthening educational development and promoting youth employment in line with the 12-Point Agenda of Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi.
The training programme was officially declared open at Sarkin Arewa Junior Secondary School, Birniwa. Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Haruna Musa, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of the local council’s commitment to grassroots educational development.
Professor Musa commended the engagement of qualified teachers with NCE and degree certificates as B-Teach staff and urged participants to make the most of the training by acquiring modern teaching skills and applying them effectively in their classrooms.
He also praised the Local Government Chairman for the ongoing rehabilitation of nine classrooms at the Special Primary School, Birniwa, describing the effort as a valuable contribution to the state government’s drive to improve basic education. He further called on School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to support and sustain educational programmes at the community level.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Birniwa Local Government Council, Hon. Shehu Baba Birniwa, charged the participants to be fair, dedicated and committed in the discharge of their duties, stressing that such qualities were essential for achieving the objectives of the programme and serving the people effectively.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to educational development and assured that outstanding B-Teach staff would be recommended for permanent appointment whenever the state government begins the confirmation of J-Teach staff, as a form of motivation.
Earlier, the Acting Education Secretary, Muhammad Zakar Birniwa, and the Project Coordinator, Jibrin Ibrahim Nasallah (Kura), commended the council chairman for spending over ₦20 million on the rehabilitation of the Special Primary School, describing it as a major achievement in the education sector.
They also appreciated the council’s consistent sponsorship of educational programmes and called on other stakeholders to support similar initiatives for greater impact.
The SUBEB Executive Chairman later inspected the rehabilitation project site and assured that regular monitoring of teachers’ performance in both primary and junior secondary schools would be sustained.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birniwa Local Government Area, Hon. Haruna A. Bura, alongside other dignitaries.
