LAGOS – A political group supporting Princess Abiodun Isliyamah Oyefusi, the Labour Party’s former deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election, has dismissed as false and misleading allegations circulating on a local WhatsApp platform.
In a statement issued on her behalf, Engr. Joshua Onipede, Convener of The New Lagos ‘2027’ and Project Lagos ‘27’, condemned messages shared in the ADC Ikorodu Local Government Area WhatsApp group. The posts, which have reportedly spread to parts of the Lagos media space, accuse Oyefusi of misappropriation and misconduct, without providing details or evidence.
Onipede said Oyefusi was never in any position that gave her access to election or party finances, describing the claims as malicious and unfounded. He noted that Oyefusi remains a credible political figure who played an active role in the 2023 campaign, advocating inclusive governance.
The statement challenged the authors of the allegations to present verifiable evidence to the Labour Party’s state or national leadership, or to appropriate authorities. It warned that continued dissemination of unproven claims could attract civil and criminal liability under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes and defamation laws.
The group urged the public to disregard the allegations and avoid sharing unverified information.
