The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme has disbursed a total of ₦12.61 billion to about 5,000 retirees between 2024 and January 2026.

The State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, disclosed this on Wednesday while flagging off the payment of ₦1.51 billion to 592 retirees at the Pension House in Dutse. He said the payments reflect Governor Umar A. Namadi’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants and retirees.

According to Dagaceri, the state government released ₦5.42 billion in 2024 to settle entitlements of 2,033 retirees, while ₦5.68 billion was disbursed in 2025 to 2,211 beneficiaries. The current tranche of ₦1.51 billion covers retirees from the state, local governments and Local Education Authorities (LEAs).

The Executive Secretary of the Pension Scheme Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, said the payments cover retirement benefits, death benefits and death pension balances, adding that the scheme remains up to date in settling retirees’ entitlements
