The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has reiterated its commitment to upholding high labour standards and prioritising staff welfare, emphasizing that a motivated and professional workforce remains central to its effectiveness as a regulator.
Under its current leadership, the Commission has taken deliberate steps to improve working conditions and strengthen internal systems. These efforts are aimed at fostering a supportive work environment built on fairness, accountability, mutual respect, and productivity.
NAICOM noted that staff welfare continues to receive significant attention, with measurable progress recorded in training and capacity development, career advancement opportunities, and workplace enhancements. The Commission said these initiatives are designed to build a skilled, motivated, and performance-driven workforce aligned with its broader strategic objectives.
The organisation also reaffirmed its adherence to a transparent and merit-based human resource system, in line with public service rules and established regulatory frameworks. Promotion exercises, it stated, are conducted through clear and objective processes, ensuring equal treatment for all employees without favouritism or bias.
In addition, NAICOM underscored its commitment to discipline, integrity, and professionalism across all levels, while maintaining a workplace culture anchored on equity, transparency, and non-discrimination.
Management encouraged staff to utilise established internal channels for communication and dispute resolution, stressing that constructive engagement remains the most effective way to address concerns without disrupting operations or undermining public confidence.
Addressing a recent incident, the Commission disclosed that an attempt by certain individuals to discredit its leadership through external actors was unsuccessful. According to NAICOM, the effort was rejected by staff who chose not to associate with what it described as unfounded claims. The situation has since been resolved, with normal operations fully restored.
The Commission assured stakeholders that all activities remain uninterrupted, reaffirming its dedication to professionalism, fairness, and accountability. NAICOM added that it will continue to invest in staff development and institutional excellence as part of its mandate to regulate and strengthen Nigeria’s insurance industry.
