Political youth groups in Jigawa State have thrown their weight behind Hon. Yusif Shitu Galambi, urging him to contest the senatorial seat representing Jigawa South West in the 2027 general elections.
The call was made during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Dutse.
Speaking on behalf of the groups, a former Secretary of Dutse Local Government, Alhaji Yakubu Kunde, described Galambi—who currently represents Gwaram Federal Constituency—as a capable and experienced leader with a strong record of grassroots development.
Kunde noted that Galambi’s political journey, which he said started from humble beginnings, has positioned him as a dominant figure in Gwaram politics with unmatched influence and support.
“Considering the level of development and political strength he has demonstrated, Hon. Galambi is equal to the task of representing the people at the Senate,” he said.
He added that at a time when leadership requires individuals with strong grassroots backing, Galambi stands out as a suitable candidate, urging relevant stakeholders, including the state government, to support his aspiration.
In a separate statement presented at the event and signed by Bello Sabo on behalf of concerned citizens, the groups reaffirmed their endorsement of Galambi, describing him as a committed public servant with a track record of dedication to his constituents.
They said he has earned the trust and respect of the people through effective representation and his ability to connect with the grassroots, adding that he is widely regarded as a visionary leader.
According to the groups, the region needs a senator who can effectively advocate for its interests at the national level, particularly in areas such as youth empowerment, economic growth, infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.
They expressed confidence that Galambi possesses the experience and integrity required to deliver on these expectations if elected.
The groups unanimously called on him to declare his intention to contest the 2027 senatorial election, pledging their full support for his ambition.
They also highlighted key challenges facing communities in the area, including youth unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, poor access to healthcare, and the need for improved agricultural and economic development.
According to them, these challenges require a leader who understands the grassroots and has consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver results—qualities they believe Galambi embodies
