Jigawa state ministry of health in collaboration with Unicef Organised a one day media engagement in relation to the recent polio vaccination exercise in Jigawa state , the media engagement which took place at three star hotel in Dutse indicate that over 50 journalist attended the ceremony with a view to provide adequate enlightment to public in the state .
Speaking at the engagement hall Dr Muhammed Uba Bulangu who is the Deputy director primary health care PHC Jigawa state also tasked journalist to redouble their effort in educating the General public on enlightment especially on the issue of polio vaccination exercise .
He charge media houses working in the state both print and electronic and social media bloggers to assist the primary health care on the general issue through media enlightment to educate the people to accept the vaccine .
Adding that the Unicef has committed a lot of resources for media wide publicity .
Dr Bulangu , added that ten children have been selected across of each of the 27 local Government areas whom ware immunized as a pilot scheme of the exercise for the recent polio immunized exercise held in the state .
On his paper presented Malam Ashiru Muazu Guru express the important of media engagement, said the objective of the media engagement is provide wider publicity through out the period of the exercise .
Also speaking at the workshop ,Malam Uba shehu who is the state Manager of the Immunisation exercise in the state said from the 2024 to date the Jigawa state Primary health care have successfully vaccinated over two million children’s despite the number of declain are declining due to the routine immunization exercise conducted in the state.
He Explained further that with the effort of traditional rulers and media the exercise became successfully done in the state .
Adding that their major challenge in the exercise is rejection of polio vaccine by some individual in some communities due political reason whare some communities are taking advantage of non projects execution in their areas by authorities concern ,that they will not accept the vaccine until their problem is solved by government ,such as provision of water, renovation of schools and ,hospital etc
He therefore task media to play a greater role in educating the general public that the polio vaccine has no any relation with govt projects and their refusal to accept the vaccine will affect the life future of their children’s .
