As preparation for the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State gather momentum,the chairman of Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Chief Alaba Bejide, on Wednesday led the Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries ,and other senior local government officials on a mobilization visit to Irewolede Local Council Development Area to canvass support for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Addressing council workers during the visit, Chief Bejide expressed appreciation for the show of solidarity with the governor during the recent worker’s day celebration. He stressed the importance of returning governor Oyebanji for a second term to consolidate ongoing development efforts across the state.
According to him,the governor has demonstrated a strong commitment to worker’s welfare through the prompt payment of salary, consistent training and retraining and sustained grassroots development initiatives. He therefore urged workers to turn out en mass on June 20 to cast their votes in support of the governor.
In his remarks , the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission,Mr. Rotimi Akomolede , expressed satisfaction with the level of development in Irewolede LCDA, commended Hon. Bakare for prioritizing the welfare of workers and fostering development within the council area. He described local government workers as critical stakeholders in the Ekiti developmental agenda and encouraged them to remain dedicated to grassroots service delivery.
Also speaking,the state president of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE),Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde, noted that governor Oyebanji has stabilised local government system in the state. He urged workers to reciprocate the administration’s efforts by voting massively for the governor.
Similarly,the chairman of NULGE, Ijero local government chapter,Comrade Temitope Ilesanmi, described the governor as a faithful leader and affirmed the union readiness to mobilise local government workers in support of his re-election.
Earlier, the Executive Chairperson, Irewolede LCDA,Hon.(Mrs) Dupe Bakare,welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit. She highlighted key achievements of her administrion,including construction of modern markets, expansion of electricity infrastructure and the construction of a new administrative building recently commissioned by the governor,among others.
Hon. Bakare assured that all the six communities within the LCDA are fully prepared to offer maximum support to governor Oyebanji before, during and after the election.
In his vote of thanks,Head of Local Council Administration,Mr. Babatunde Vincent, expressed gratitude to the LGSC leadership for their visit and assured them that council workers would reciprocate the Governor’s good governance with their votes at the poll.
