The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the party’s overwhelming victory in the Ekiti State Governorship Election and its strong performance in recent bye-elections across the country reflect growing public confidence in APC-led governments and the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described the election outcomes as a clear endorsement of the party’s governance philosophy, which he said prioritises development, accountability, stability and the welfare of citizens.
According to him, the results demonstrate that Nigerians are able to distinguish between temporary economic difficulties associated with reforms and the long-term benefits of responsible governance and economic restructuring.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji was re-elected after securing a commanding victory in the Ekiti governorship election, while the APC also won five of the six bye-elections conducted across various states of the federation.
Yilwatda attributed the Ekiti victory to the governor’s performance in office, citing achievements in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and workers’ welfare.
He said the election had become a national reference point for performance-based governance, noting that citizens reward leaders who deliver tangible results and improve living standards.
Describing Ekiti as one of the country’s leading governance success stories, the APC chairman highlighted sustained investments in road construction, rural development, human capital growth, healthcare delivery and ease of doing business under Oyebanji’s administration.
Yilwatda also linked the victories to President Tinubu’s broader reform programme, saying the administration’s policies are gradually laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient and globally competitive economy.
He maintained that the election outcomes were not only political victories but also validations of a governing philosophy anchored on bold leadership, responsible decision-making and sustainable development.
The APC chairman congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, party leaders and victorious candidates in the bye-elections, while commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the people of Ekiti State for the peaceful conduct of the election.
He assured Nigerians that the APC would remain focused on delivering good governance and deepening democratic dividends across the country, pledging continued commitment to economic renewal, national development and unity
