The newly appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, Gombe State, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad, has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to repositioning the institution for greater academic and infrastructural development.

Dr. Muhammad made the pledge during an interactive session with the Polytechnic community, comprising the management, staff and students, at the institution’s campus.

He described Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, as an institution that is indispensable to Nigeria’s industrial and technological aspirations, acknowledging the critical role polytechnics play in producing middle-level manpower essential for national development.

The chairman stressed the need for sustained investment in the polytechnic system, noting that Nigeria’s quest for technological advancement cannot be achieved without adequately funded and properly equipped technical institutions.

“We are partners in progress. Everything we do is aimed at improving the institution and making it function more effectively,” he said.

Dr. Muhammad thanked the staff and students for the warm reception accorded him, saying he had listened carefully to the concerns, suggestions and expectations expressed by staff unions and the student body.

He described the engagement as timely, saying it would strengthen dialogue, promote transparency and foster unity of purpose within the Polytechnic community.

The chairman commended the Rector, Dr. Ibrahim Babale Gashua, and his management team for maintaining cordial relations with staff unions and creating an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research, service delivery, infrastructural development and academic excellence.

He also applauded the students for their discipline and commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Muhammad assured the Polytechnic community of the Governing Council’s continued support for policies and projects aimed at improving infrastructure, staff welfare and students’ learning experience.

Speaking on behalf of staff and students, representatives of the various groups expressed appreciation for Dr. Muhammad’s leadership and commitment to improving infrastructure, staff welfare and academic standards at the institution.

They said the chairman’s visit had boosted their morale and renewed their commitment to contributing to the growth and development of the Polytechnic.

In a related development, Dr. Muhammad inspected completed and ongoing projects at both the permanent and take-off sites of the institution.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, commending the Polytechnic management for its commitment to infrastructural development.

The chairman urged contractors handling the projects to adhere strictly to approved specifications and completion timelines.

He reiterated the Governing Council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that would enhance the institution’s growth and development.

Dr. Muhammad was conducted round the project sites by the Rector, Dr. Ibrahim Babale Gashua; the Deputy Rector, Miss Eldah Ephraim Buba; the Director of Works and Physical Planning; and other principal officers of the institution.
