The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged young Nigerians to support a proposed Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket in the 2027 general election, saying it offers a pathway to improved governance and national development.
The call was made during a political rally organised by the party’s Jigawa State chapter, which brought together supporters of Peter Obi and the Kwankwasiyya movement in Dutse.
Thousands of supporters, mostly youths, marched from Rawan Mai Kwarya Junction through major streets of the state capital before converging at the party’s office along MTD Road.
Addressing the gathering, the NDC’s governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Dr. Aminu Sani Yarima, described the turnout as a demonstration of growing youth interest in political participation.
He said the mobilisation was aimed at encouraging young people to play a more active role in determining the country’s future.
Yarima expressed confidence that the NDC could unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, promising improved governance and development if the party wins the election.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Peter Obi–Kwankwaso Campaign Movement, Comrade Auwalu Ahmed Ramin Kuka, called on young people in the state to support the party and work toward its victory in the next general election.
He described Obi and Kwankwaso as leaders capable of tackling Nigeria’s major challenges, including insecurity, poverty and hunger.
The leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement in Jigawa State, Alhaji Ado Taura, said the NDC’s programmes and policies positioned it as a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking change.
According to him, the party was founded on the principles of justice, truth and progress, urging residents of the state to support its candidates in 2027.
The party’s Women’s Leader in Jigawa State, Hajiya Umma Hani Ayuba, appealed to women and youths to join the NDC, arguing that the party offers a better alternative to existing political parties.
She stressed the importance of sustained voter education and mobilisation among women ahead of the elections, saying their participation would be critical to the party’s success.
Ayuba also advised voters not to allow financial inducements or campaign incentives to influence their electoral choices.
She encouraged eligible voters to make independent decisions at the polls, maintaining that Obi and Kwankwaso represent the best option for Nigeria’s future.
