The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BOCA Energy Resources Limited, James Ukachukwu, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Energy Man of the Year Award by the Momentous Magazine Personality Awards.
The recognition is expected to honour Ukachukwu’s contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector, corporate leadership, innovation and the growth of the country’s oil and gas industry.
The award is being presented under the Momentous Magazine Personality Awards, an initiative that recognises individuals and organisations adjudged to have distinguished themselves through excellence, leadership and contributions to society.
The organisers have, in previous editions, honoured personalities and organisations across different sectors. In 2023, for instance, RedGecko PR was recognised as Outstanding PR Agency, with the MOPA Convener and Chief Executive Officer of Momentous Magazine, Pastor Sesan Awobiye, stressing the importance of rewarding excellence and improved service delivery.
Ukachukwu’s latest recognition comes against the backdrop of BOCA Energy Resources Limited’s growing activities in Nigeria’s oil, gas and broader energy services industry.
An indigenous Nigerian company, BOCA Energy Resources provides engineering, procurement, construction and project-management services across the energy and oil and gas sectors.
Its service portfolio covers engineering and procurement, construction and fabrication, pipeline and flowline installation, specialised oilfield services, supply-chain and procurement solutions, as well as geotechnical and geophysical services.
The MOPA award adds to a growing list of recognitions received by Ukachukwu and the BOCA Group in 2026, reflecting the company’s increasing profile in Nigeria’s business and energy landscape.
At the 2026 Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council Correspondents’ Chapel Press Week, BOCA Energy Resources Limited and BOCA IT Systems Limited were honoured with awards including Business Titan/CEO of the Year and Most Innovative Energy and Technology Solution Providers.
Ukachukwu, who served as Chairman of the Occasion at the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Press Week, used the platform to highlight the connection between credible journalism, responsible business leadership and national development.
Speaking through his representative, Reginald Ofoegbu, he said, “If crude oil powers economies and technology powers innovation, then credible journalism powers democracy. Without trustworthy information, societies drift; with it, nations progress.”
The BOCA chairman also stressed the importance of credibility and public trust, noting that both the business community and the media depended heavily on confidence from the public to perform their roles effectively.
The latest recognition is expected to further draw attention to BOCA Energy Resources’ stated commitment to innovation, safety, quality and sustainable development in the delivery of energy and infrastructure projects.
The company says its mission is to provide innovative solutions for global infrastructure while placing integrity, safety and sustainability at the centre of its operations, with the Energy Institute listed among its professional industry affiliations.
For Ukachukwu, the MOPA 2026 Energy Man of the Year award represents more than a personal achievement, as it also reflects the efforts of the BOCA team, clients, partners and other stakeholders who have contributed to the company’s growth and activities in Nigeria’s energy sector.
