The All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State has officially reaffirmed Governor Umar Namadi as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, as the governor called on party members to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the polls.

The endorsement took place at the Dutse Township Stadium during a massive gathering attended by party leaders, stakeholders, elected officials, and thousands of supporters from the state’s 27 local government areas.

Among dignitaries present were former Jigawa governors Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu and Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, former deputy governor and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, party executives, and other senior political figures.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies also monitored the exercise.

Speaking after the affirmation, Governor Namadi expressed gratitude to party members and residents of the state for the confidence reposed in him.

“Alhamdulillah, we thank Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness this day. I sincerely appreciate the people of Jigawa State, especially members of our great party, for endorsing me as the APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election,” he said.

The governor described the endorsement as a fresh responsibility and pledged that his administration would remain committed to delivering development projects and improving the welfare of citizens across the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the “Greater Jigawa” agenda, noting that government policies and programmes would continue to align with the vision.

“Our project for a Greater Jigawa is on course, and we will continue to pursue it to its logical conclusion,” he stated.

Namadi, however, stressed that the endorsement marked only the beginning of preparations for the 2027 elections and urged party members to remain united and focused.

“With this opportunity you have given me, we have only completed the first step. We must now brace up for the 2027 elections to ensure victory for all APC candidates, from the president down to members of the State House of Assembly,” he said.

The governor added that the party’s consensus arrangement process in the state had achieved about 90 per cent success, commending party stakeholders and elders for their sacrifices and commitment.

He paid special tribute to former governor Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu for spearheading consultations and mobilisation efforts across the local governments.

Namadi also acknowledged the continued support and guidance of party elders, saying their contributions remained vital to the unity and success of the APC in Jigawa State
