The Chief Judge of , , has inaugurated members of the Election Petition Tribunal and Election Appeal Tribunal ahead of the councillorship bye-election scheduled for May 23, 2026, in Kore-Balatu Ward of .
The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday, was aimed at ensuring the fair, transparent, and speedy resolution of any disputes that may arise from the conduct and outcome of the bye-election.
While swearing in the tribunal members, Justice Sadiq urged them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, impartiality, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
He emphasized that the credibility of the electoral process depends largely on the ability of judicial officers to dispense justice fairly and without bias.
“Justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done,” the Chief Judge stated.
The Election Petition Trial Tribunal is chaired by Barrister Auwalu Sani, with Barrister Sadisu Musa and Barrister Sa’idu Galadima serving as members.
The Election Appeal Tribunal is headed by as chairman, alongside and as members.
The tribunals are mandated to receive, hear, and determine all petitions arising from the Kore-Balatu Ward councillorship bye-election in line with the provisions of Nigeria’s Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
