Preparations have entered the final stages for the maiden edition of the WINSEC Summit and Awards 2026, a national platform aimed at recognising outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s security and public service sectors while promoting greater inclusion of women in security leadership.
The summit, scheduled to hold in Abuja in the coming weeks, is expected to attract top stakeholders from the security sector, government institutions, civil society organisations, and the media for high-level discussions on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
Speaking ahead of the event, the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Aishatu Ibrahim, described the initiative as a landmark platform designed to honour individuals and institutions whose commitment and sacrifice continue to advance peace, safety, and national development.
She said the summit would go beyond awards and recognition, serving as a strategic forum for dialogue, collaboration, and innovative thinking around the country’s evolving security challenges.
According to Ibrahim, the organising committee has intensified preparations with less than four weeks to the event, assuring stakeholders of a well-structured summit that would meet international standards.
She noted that the success of the inaugural edition would be critical in establishing WINSEC as an annual national platform dedicated to advancing women’s participation and leadership in the security sector.
The event is being organised in collaboration with leading media and professional bodies, reflecting its multi-sectoral approach and commitment to professionalism, transparency, and inclusiveness.
Organisers also disclosed that details of keynote speakers, programme highlights, and participation guidelines would be unveiled in the coming weeks.
The WINSEC Summit and Awards 2026 is expected to emerge as a major national gathering focused on celebrating excellence and promoting inclusive security governance in Nigeria
