For many small business owners, access to affordable finance remains one of the biggest challenges to growth and sustainability. Recognising this reality and driven by its commitment to service and community development, the Rotary Club of Ojodu has once again extended a helping hand through its Micro Credit Scheme, providing soft loans to deserving entrepreneurs to support and strengthen their businesses.
The initiative, which continues to impact lives across the community, is designed not merely as a financial intervention but as a practical pathway towards economic empowerment, self-reliance, and improved livelihoods.
Speaking during the loan disbursement programme, the President of the Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Martins Nnanna, reaffirmed the Club’s unwavering commitment to creating lasting and meaningful impact within the community.
He noted that the Micro Credit Scheme represents the very essence of Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, and reflects the Club’s belief that empowering individuals economically is one of the most effective ways to build stronger families and more prosperous communities.
“At Rotary Club of Ojodu, we believe that when people are given the right support and opportunities, they can transform their circumstances and become catalysts for positive change within their communities. This scheme is our contribution towards helping hardworking entrepreneurs realise their aspirations and achieve financial independence,” he said.
Rotarian Nnanna further emphasised that the Club remains committed to implementing initiatives that deliver sustainable benefits and create opportunities for individuals to thrive.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Chairman of the Micro Credit Scheme Committee, Rotarian Ikpunuekhai Osi Evans, encouraged them to see the loan as more than financial assistance.
He described the scheme as a valuable opportunity for growth and urged recipients to utilise the funds responsibly, invest in productive ventures, and maintain a strong repayment culture to ensure that others can benefit from the programme in the future.
“This fund is a tool for empowerment and economic transformation. Its success depends on the commitment and discipline of every beneficiary. We encourage you to use it wisely, grow your businesses, and become shining examples of what this initiative can achieve,” he remarked.
Rotarian Evans also expressed gratitude to the Club’s leadership and members whose dedication and support have ensured the continued success and sustainability of the programme over the years.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Priscilla Opara, shared an emotional testimony, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the Rotary Club of Ojodu for the timely intervention.
According to her, the support came at a crucial moment and will significantly enhance her business operations, provide much-needed stability and create opportunities for further growth.
“This support means so much to my family and me. It will help me expand my business and improve our financial situation. I am deeply grateful to the Rotary Club of Ojodu for believing in people like us and allowing us to do more for ourselves,” she said.
She further offered prayers for the continued success of the Club and encouraged fellow beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by investing the funds wisely and responsibly.
The event served as a powerful reminder that genuine service goes beyond words. Through initiatives such as the Micro Credit Scheme, the Rotary Club of Ojodu continues to demonstrate that meaningful change is achieved when communities come together to support one another.
As the beneficiaries return to their various businesses with renewed hope and confidence, the Club remains steadfast in its mission of touching lives, empowering individuals, and building stronger communities—one opportunity at a time.
