Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) Plc has declared an interim dividend of ₦1.30 per ordinary share after delivering its strongest first-half financial performance on record, with profit before tax surging 170 percent and revenue more than doubling in the first six months of 2026.

The capital market infrastructure company announced that revenue rose by 118 percent to ₦17.60 billion for the period ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₦8.08 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025. Total income also increased by 96 percent to ₦19.34 billion.

The impressive performance was driven by heightened trading activity on the Nigerian capital market. Transaction fee income jumped 169 percent to ₦13.34 billion, while listing fees grew 59 percent to ₦2.38 billion. Technology income also recorded steady growth, rising 19 percent to ₦447.86 million.

NGX Group translated the strong revenue growth into higher profitability, with operating profit climbing 155 percent to ₦10.62 billion from ₦4.16 billion in the same period last year. The Group also benefited from stronger earnings from its equity-accounted investee companies, with its share of profit increasing 130 percent to ₦4.14 billion, largely driven by the performance of Central Securities Clearing System Plc.

As a result, profit before tax rose to ₦14.76 billion, up from ₦5.46 billion in the first half of 2025, while profit after tax increased 146 percent to ₦10.36 billion, compared with ₦4.22 billion a year earlier.

The Group’s financial position also strengthened during the period, with total assets rising to ₦75.87 billion and shareholders’ equity increasing to ₦60.49 billion as of June 30, 2026.

Chairman of NGX Group, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, said the Board’s decision to approve an interim dividend reflects the company’s strong earnings, improved cash generation and confidence in its long-term growth strategy.

He noted that the Board remains committed to delivering attractive returns to shareholders while continuing to invest in technology, market infrastructure and strategic initiatives aimed at deepening Nigeria’s capital market.

Also commenting on the results, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Temi Popoola, said the record performance demonstrates the resilience and scalability of NGX Group’s business model.

According to him, the company will sustain its growth momentum by improving market liquidity, expanding investor participation, accelerating technology-driven products and building a more diversified financial market infrastructure business.

NGX Group said shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members on the qualification date will receive the ₦1.30 interim dividend, while details of the qualification date, register closure and payment date will be announced in line with regulatory requirements
