The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to accelerate reforms and promote sustainable growth in Nigeria’s insurance industry.

The NIA leadership, led by its Chairman, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, paid a courtesy visit to NAICOM as part of efforts to deepen engagement between insurance operators and the industry regulator.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange views on key industry priorities and emerging developments, with discussions focusing on the implementation of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Agenda (NIIRA) 2025 and progress on the Risk-Based Capital (RBC) project.

Both initiatives are considered important to strengthening the resilience, competitiveness and long-term sustainability of the Nigerian insurance industry.

The engagement also examined strategic measures aimed at expanding market capacity, improving operational efficiency and deepening insurance penetration across the country.

The NIA and NAICOM further discussed the need to foster a stronger risk management culture and create an environment that supports innovation and sustainable growth within the sector.

The association said continued collaboration between industry operators and the regulator remains critical to the successful implementation of reforms and the development of a more efficient and responsive insurance market.

The engagement also underscores the importance of strengthening policyholder confidence and promoting financial stability within the sector.

Both institutions are expected to sustain dialogue and cooperation as the industry advances ongoing reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria’s insurance sector for stronger growth and greater contribution to national economic development.
