A Lagos resident, Susan Daniels, is recovering from a brutal attack believed to be linked to her participation in the 2020 #EndSARS protests, in an incident that has raised fresh concerns about post-protest reprisals

.

According to reports gathered by our correspondent, Daniels, who resides at No. 7 Tola Bamgbelu Street, Command Road, Ipaja in Lagos, was assaulted by unidentified assailants on October 23, 2020. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where she remained hospitalised for some days.

Sources suggest the attack may not be unconnected to her involvement in the widely publicised #EndSARS protests, particularly activities around the Lekki Toll Gate during the final quarter of 2020.

In a troubling escalation, while Daniels was still receiving treatment, her vehicle was reportedly vandalised on October 24, 2020, by unknown gunmen. Eyewitness accounts describe extensive damage: the windscreen was shattered, doors forcefully removed, seats ripped apart, and the car battery taken. The vehicle’s body was left badly wrecked, rendering it beyond repair.

Daniels only became aware of the destruction after she was discharged from LASUTH on October 26, 2020. The incident was subsequently reported to the police, prompting an investigation.

Police sources confirmed that a team of detectives, led by ASP Akeem Adepoju, has been assigned to unravel the circumstances surrounding both the attack and the vandalisation. However, as of the time of filing this report, no arrests have been made, and the perpetrators remain unidentified.

The incident underscores lingering tensions and unresolved grievances following the #EndSARS protests, with concerns mounting over the safety of individuals linked to the movement.
