…Keeps Students till Further Instruction

Parents of students at Command Secondary School in Ipaja were left frustrated and confused on Friday as the school’s closure plans due to the upcoming protest were repeatedly changed.
Initially, the school had announced that it would close on August 3rd, but on Friday, parents were told to pick up their children early. Some arrived as early as 7:30 am, only to be delayed until evening due to a sports activity.
However, just as they were about to leave, they were informed that the school would not be closing after all.
The sudden change in plans sparked anger and disappointment among parents, who had made arrangements to pick up their kids and return to work. “I planned my whole day around picking up my child and going back to work,” said one parent. “But now I’ve wasted the whole day waiting.”
According to sources within the school, the management had decided to close the school early due to the protest, but received a signal not to do so.
However, another signal was sent later, stating that the school would close on Monday. Parents are now worried that there might be another change in plans.
The uncertainty is believed to be linked to the fact that it’s a military school, and the military has been given restricted orders not to leave their posts due to the protest. As one parent noted, “It’s like they’re being pulled in different directions, and we’re the ones suffering.”
The school’s administration has yet to comment on the situation, leaving parents and students in limbo. As the protest approaches, one thing is certain – parents and students deserve clarity and consistency.
