Pernod Ricard, the world’s second-largest wine and spirits producer, has reinforced its commitment to Nigeria’s growing market with a strategic visit from Selcuk Tumay, CEO of Pernod Ricard Middle East and Africa, accompanied by Africa CFO Nevzat Akkiz and Africa Managing Director Sola Oke.
The delegation’s visit included a comprehensive business review at the company’s Lagos office, aimed at evaluating regional performance and refining strategies to boost growth in Nigeria’s dynamic market. The team also hosted a “Meet and Greet” session to engage with local employees and acknowledge their contributions, promoting an atmosphere of inclusivity and motivation.
Following this, the executives took an in-depth look at Nigeria’s retail landscape with a tour of the Oke-Arin open market in Lagos. This visit provided valuable insights to fine-tune marketing approaches to better connect with Nigerian consumers. The team also met with key retail partners and visited flagship stores to assess in-store experiences and identify opportunities to enhance brand presence in Nigeria.
In the evening, the delegation toured on-trade locations showcasing Pernod Ricard’s premium offerings, demonstrating a focus on building brand resonance in Nigeria’s hospitality sector. Visits to key distributors further highlighted the company’s commitment to strong, collaborative partnerships in the Nigerian market.
“Despite challenges like foreign exchange volatility, we are optimistic about our growth in Nigeria,” remarked Tumay. “By adapting our strategies, we aim to support our local partners and offer consumers exceptional experiences.”
Drawing from successful strategies applied in Turkey and the Middle East, where Pernod Ricard achieved double-digit growth, Tumay emphasized plans to replicate these results in Nigeria by focusing on strategic partnerships and innovative marketing tactics.
“We are leveraging successes from Turkey and the Middle East to navigate Nigeria’s challenges and unlock its potential,” Tumay added.
