The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the ruling party remains the most viable political platform to guarantee Nigeria’s stability, democratic growth, and long-term development.
Speaking in Abuja, Yilwatda said the APC possesses the structure, experience, and national reach required to manage the country’s complex political and economic landscape. He stressed that Nigeria, at a critical stage of democratic consolidation, cannot afford what he described as “politically disoriented alternatives.”
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman noted that the party has consistently demonstrated institutional maturity and administrative capacity.
“The APC is not an ad hoc coalition held together by convenience. It is a tested and enduring political platform with the strength to meet the present and future needs of Nigerians,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the party is not solely focused on electoral victories but is working to strengthen governance, deepen democratic culture, and rebuild public trust.
Criticism of Opposition Parties
Yilwatda criticized opposition parties, citing ongoing internal crises as evidence of weak leadership and poor organizational capacity. He argued that parties unable to manage internal conflicts cannot be trusted with national governance.
“A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria,” he stated, warning against entrusting the country’s future to politically unstable groups.
Commitment to Democratic Process
The APC chairman emphasized that the party supports free and fair democratic competition and prefers to win elections through popular support rather than legal technicalities.
“Victory is more legitimate when freely given by the people,” he said, noting that the APC draws strength from voter trust and grassroots engagement.
Security and Rule of Law
On national security, Yilwatda described the Federal Government’s ongoing trial of over 500 terrorism suspects as a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law. He said the move demonstrates a shift from mere arrests to judicial accountability.
He commended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for adopting a comprehensive strategy that combines military action, intelligence efforts, and legal processes to tackle insecurity.
Focus on Osun Political Strategy
Turning to party affairs in Osun State, Yilwatda called for a disciplined and coordinated campaign structure ahead of future elections. He stressed the importance of clear leadership, defined roles, and conflict resolution mechanisms within the party.
He described Osun as a strategic battleground and a key test of the APC’s strength in the South-West, as well as a preparatory ground for the 2027 general elections.
“Osun is not just another election; it is a measure of organizational discipline and political strength,” he said.
Call for Unity
The APC chairman urged party members, stakeholders, and supporters to prioritize unity and collective goals over personal ambitions. He emphasized that electoral success would depend on discipline, loyalty, and coordinated grassroots efforts.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to national development, Yilwatda said the APC remains focused on promoting security, economic recovery, and institutional stability.
“Nigeria needs steadiness, structure, courage, and capacity. The APC represents that responsibility,” he said.
