A former Jigawa State Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme and former Chairman of Dutse Local Government as well as former ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo, has warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State may struggle to survive if more aggrieved members defect to other political parties.

Chamo made the statement during an exclusive interview with our reporter shortly after his defection from the APC to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to him, the growing dissatisfaction within the APC could make it easier for opposition parties to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

“If those who are offended in the APC decide to defect, I don’t think the party can survive politically in Jigawa State,” he said.

Chamo further alleged that the political situation within the state is too sensitive to be fully exposed publicly, claiming that any media organisation that reports extensively on the internal crisis could face pressure from the ruling party.

“If the real political issues happening in Jigawa State are exposed, many media organisations may not even be able to publish or broadcast them because of possible actions that could be taken against them,” he alleged.

He explained that he and several others decided to leave the APC for the ADC because the ruling party had lost credibility and failed to uphold justice and fairness among its members.

“We joined the APC as loyal card-carrying members since 2014, but the party is now filled with injustice, lack of fairness, and empty promises,” Chamo stated.

He accused some APC leaders of betraying those who helped them rise politically, stressing that loyalty and respect for leadership remain important values in politics.

“We cannot be part of those who betray their political leaders. Leaders at every level deserve respect,” he added.

Chamo reaffirmed his loyalty to former Jigawa State Governor and former Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, noting that although Badaru remains in the APC, he and others at the grassroots level no longer feel valued within the party.

“Our leader, Badaru Abubakar, is still in the APC, and he knows why he remains there. But for some of us at the lower level, we can no longer remain in a party where we are not valued or given consideration,” he said.

He further claimed that the APC has lost popularity and credibility among many members due to unequal treatment and lack of internal democracy.

According to Chamo, the continued exit of party stakeholders and influential members poses
