The African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial aspirant for Jigawa South Central, Alhaji Ahmed Isa Baraya, has pledged to prioritise business development, agriculture, education, and healthcare if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Baraya, who spoke at his residence in Dutse, said his focus would be on empowering residents of Dutse Emirate to become self-reliant through improved access to economic opportunities and targeted support for small businesses.

He lamented that key sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare have been neglected in northern Nigeria over the years, adding that urgent intervention is needed to restore growth and development.

According to him, strengthening agriculture and revitalising the education and health sectors would remain central to his legislative agenda, describing them as critical to improving living standards under a democratic system.

The aspirant said he has already been screened by the party’s national secretariat and submitted all required documents, expressing confidence in his readiness for the upcoming electoral process.

Baraya also disclosed plans to introduce special intervention programmes for women, children, and the elderly within his constituency, aimed at improving welfare and social inclusion.

He further promised to prioritise healthcare delivery through the purchase and distribution of essential drugs to hospitals across the local government areas he intends to represent.

On youth development, Baraya criticised previous administrations for failing to adequately engage young people, a situation he said contributed to rising social vices. He pledged to redirect youth energy toward productive ventures and empowerment schemes.

He also identified water scarcity as a major challenge in Dutse and surrounding communities, promising to engage experts to provide a lasting solution if elected.
