Months after the brutal killing of lawyer Olufemi Tajudeen Idris, information gathered from police investigations and sources close to the case reportedly points to a possible connection between his murder and the series of attacks and intimidation allegedly surrounding youth leader Abidemi Akinlade.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, weeks of findings led detectives to examine Idris’ legal representation of Akinlade as a significant line of inquiry. The development has strengthened suspicions that the lawyer’s murder may not have been an isolated act of violence but part of a broader pattern targeting individuals associated with the youth leader.
Idris, widely regarded as Akinlade’s strongest legal defender, was hacked to death in a machete attack at his residence on March 6. Despite reports that investigators have identified important links in the case, no arrests have been made, no suspects have been prosecuted, and authorities have yet to announce any breakthrough.
The prolonged silence has heightened public concern, with many questionings why months after such a high-profile killing, those responsible remain at large.
Sources also claim that the violence surrounding Abidemi Akinlade extends beyond the murder of his lawyer. During the period of alleged intimidation, several lives have reportedly been lost. Among them was a member of his parents’ security man, who was said to have been killed in circumstances linked to the ongoing crisis. In another incident, Abidemi Akinlade own security man was reportedly shot, further deepening fears over the escalating security situation.
Observers argue that these incidents, viewed collectively, suggest a disturbing pattern of attacks against people connected to Akinlade. What began as alleged intimidation has, according to those close to the matter, escalated into deadly violence affecting his legal team, security personnel, family associates, and others within his circle.
Security analysts warn that the apparent sequence of events is deeply troubling. They argue that the failure to bring anyone to justice despite reported investigative findings could embolden those responsible and create the perception that they can operate without consequence.
Human rights advocates have renewed calls for an independent and transparent investigation, insisting that justice for Olufemi Tajudeen Idris is essential to restoring public confidence in the rule of law. They further warn that every day without arrests increases anxiety over the safety of those allegedly connected to the case.
One pressing question continues to haunt observers Is that With so many violent incidents reportedly linked to those around him and no arrests made to date, is Abidemi Akinlade’s life still in danger and who will be held accountable if another tragedy occurs?
