The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has unveiled plans to convene a landmark energy summit aimed at reducing industrial energy costs, improving manufacturing efficiency and strengthening the competitiveness of Nigerian industries.
The two-day Manufacturers Energy Security and Energy Efficiency Summit, themed “Innovative Energy for Cost-Effective Smart Manufacturing with Structured Financing,” will hold from November 3 to 4, 2026, at Legend Hotel Lagos Airport, Curio Collection by Hilton, Ikeja Free Zone, Lagos.
Speaking at a press conference at MAN House, Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, October 26, 2026, MAN President, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, said the initiative would provide practical solutions to the persistent energy challenges confronting manufacturers.
Okoye explained that high electricity tariffs, unreliable grid supply, rising fuel prices and dependence on expensive alternative power sources continue to increase production costs and undermine the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.
He said MAN, through its energy-focused subsidiary, Manufacturers Power Development Company Ltd (MPDCL), was partnering with the German Development Agency (GIZ) and the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) to advance sustainable energy solutions for the manufacturing sector.
According to him, the summit will bring together industry executives, policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, technology providers and development partners to explore innovative approaches to industrial energy security.
A major highlight will be the launch of the Industrial Energy Cost Reduction and Adoption Programme, which seeks to promote factory rooftop solar installations, battery energy storage systems, captive natural gas-to-power solutions and other cleaner energy alternatives.
The summit will also explore artificial intelligence in smart manufacturing, energy efficiency networks, affordable financing, climate finance, carbon credits and emerging electricity market opportunities.
Okoye noted that the initiative would encourage manufacturers to embrace cleaner energy technologies, reduce operational expenditure and improve environmental sustainability.
He expressed appreciation to GIZ and NESP for supporting Nigeria’s industrial decarbonisation and competitiveness agenda, while urging the media to promote awareness of the initiative.
He stressed that improving energy security remained critical to expanding industrial production, creating jobs and accelerating Nigeria’s economic growth.
