Political and community groups in Jahun and Miga Local Government Areas of Jigawa State have endorsed Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie as their preferred candidate for the 2027 National Assembly election.
The groups made the declaration after a series of consultations with elders, religious leaders, and traditional authorities across both constituencies.
They described Dr. Atterwahmie, a medical doctor with experience in federal medical institutions in Birnin Kudu, Nguru, and Birnin Kudu Federal Medical Centre, as a committed professional who has consistently demonstrated concern for grassroots healthcare delivery.
According to them, his service record in the health sector makes him well-positioned to represent the interests of Jahun and Miga at the national level.
The groups expressed concern over what they described as years of poor representation, alleging that past lawmakers from the area had not delivered meaningful development despite occupying the seat for over two decades.
They argued that constituents have continued to suffer from weak legislative presence, low visibility in national debates, and limited development projects.
They further stated that Dr. Atterwahmie’s candidacy would bring a shift in focus towards agriculture, rural development, and youth empowerment.
The groups noted that both Jahun and Miga are predominantly farming communities but have long struggled with inadequate support for farmers, including limited access to fertilizers, modern equipment, and irrigation facilities.
They added that if elected, Dr. Atterwahmie would prioritise agricultural transformation, including the development of mini dams in areas such as Jabarna, Magama, Farfada, Kadawawa, Kulawa, and Zareku to boost dry-season farming.
According to them, such interventions would reduce youth migration, create jobs, and improve food production across the region.
The groups appealed to residents to unite behind Dr. Atterwahmie’s ambition and also called on Governor Umar Namadi to support his emergence in the 2027 general elections
